Zoo Conservation Field Trip Grades 1 and 3

Our Grade 1 and 3 students attended the Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo Conversation program this week. We were proud of our Windsor Park kids as they shared their projects on Snowy Owls and Polar Bears. They were able to tour the zoo and some students spent extra time with the lemurs. Thank you to our 20 parent volunteers for making this a memorable experience. Big gratitude to Mr. V, Ms. Sprau, Ms. Mah, Ms. Motov, and Ms Agha for a year long preparation and inquiry project. Also a huge merci to the Zoo for funding the buses and admission for the day.

School Official School Opening Celebration

All staff and students at Windsor Park are busy preparing our wonderful school for an opening celebration as we are the only new CBE school this year!

All parents and community members are welcome to join us May 13 at 1:30 PM for our dress rehearsal and do not need to send a rsvp. Please consider attending this celebration if interested.

Thursday May 14 at 1 PM will be our official assembly with invited guests. If you are interested in attending, you will need to RSVP. If you are planning to attend, please complete this form Windsor Park School Opening Celebration Response – Fill out form. We will have very limited seating.

Trustee Nancy Close, Chief Superintendent of CBE Joanne Pittman and City Councilor Rob Ward will be in attendance.  Seating is limited so please consider the dress rehearsal. We intend to record the presentation and upload it to our private site so everyone can feel part of the celebration.

Swimming

Grades 1-3 will be swimming at Glenmore Aquatic Centre May 25-29. Our school council and society has generously offered to pay for this $5500 experience and will be reaching out to parents to donate. Only parents with up to date Volunteer Clearance will be permitted to support children. As a CBE volunteer, you are placed in a position of trust with students, staff or property.  All adult volunteers require a valid security clearance - no exceptions. Please contact the office if you would like to begin the process. We will send an additional email with information about swimming, acknowledgement of risk consent forms, and request for volunteers.

Yearbook

Windsor Park School will be creating a yearbook to celebrate our first year together as we nurture a strong sense of belonging and a positive, wholesome school culture. We will continue to collect photos from field trips and assemblies until the end of June. Families will be able to order yearbooks beginning May 11 and they will be delivered in August to everyone. Our Keep Calm and Puffin On whole school inquiry project will be a highlight!

Mabel’s Labels

Our little ones try their best to look after their belongings and staff have been taking time to show them ways to keep their items hung up, however, sometimes gloves and hats go astray. Please consider labelling your child’s items (particularly hoodies) and maybe purchasing ready-made labels. Windsor Park School has an active partnership with Mabel's Labels as a fundraiser. Families can purchase personalized, durable, and waterproof labels for clothing, school supplies, and lunch items, with a portion of the proceeds supporting the school. Search Campaign: Go to campaigns.mabelslabels.com and search for "Windsor Park School" to ensure the funds go to the school.
