Nov 2 Update
Readers and Leaders:
Our Grade 3s had Firefighter Gustavo come to their classroom on Tuesday to read a book and talk about safety. Kids loved hearing him read to them. His name Dragons are not invited for tea. They also learned about how to be safe and he asked them lots of questions while he read the book. Did you know the fireman with the red and white helmet is the one you can ask questions and tell what happened in an emergency? The firefighters with the yellow helmets fight fires. Blue helmets drives the truck and tells us about safety. You should call 911 for police, ambulance and fire emergencies. They will even rescue your pet. He told the kids he once rescued a turtle! – shared by Marlowe and Mila B gr 3 Readers and Leaders | Calgary Public Library
Astrodome Planetarium:
Grade 4s had a special opportunity to learn about constellations and deepen their comprehension of the gr 4 science curriculum. The dome was set up in the gym and the kids got to go inside! Students talked about the constellations being connected to Greek Mythology – like the big and small dipper are bears with long tails. The myth was that Zeus was walking and saw the bears. He grabbed by the tails and swung them around. They flew up and are still there! – shared by Yusef and Sarah gr 3.
